BLEEDING FROM YESTERDAY
July 10, 2008
The NEW TV Series, Sayang Sayang has been airing on channel 5 for two weeks now and I’ve been investing my time and putting off school assignments to catch this lovely show. What really interest me about this show is that it revolves around the peranakan family. Not because it is peranakan but it is cultural.Putting awareness on a culture facing unfamiliarity in a fast paced changing world.More deeply,It provides me a sense of nostalgia as i reminisce about my secondary school days.I’m not peranakan but still fondly remember when i spent my monday nights watching THE WAYS OF THE MATRIACH.
The drama/cooking show, was the best thing that ever happened to me in my younger days.I’m smiling happily remembering a time so beautiful. The series was beuatifully made and well scripted.
Going back to Sayang Sayang.I think it is the best amongst all other current local series.I will not watch THE YING YANG SISTERS. Sayang Sayang is soo much better. The script is more better and the jokes are more funnier. The script writting has to be more difficult because they have to infuse the peranakan lingo with current context and yet seem like it was back in the 50s’.The way the envelope sexual statements or those hinting it is so well as compared to ‘the yin yang sisters’.
Well basicly i love it! And it is a must watch!
Every wednesday,8 pm
only on 5.
